An employer who owns factory or mercantile must provide an employee in Wisconsin a rest day each calendar week. An employee who is operating factories or mercantile structure must receive a 1 day rest period (24 consecutive hours) each week. An employee may work during this 24-hour period only if there is an immediate emergency requiring the employee to prevent serious bodily injury, property damage or suspension of necessary operations.
