Employers must provide employees under the age of 18 years old who have worked 6 hours in duration a meal period of at least 30-minutes while being duty free.
Wisconsin labor law does not enforce employers to provide lunch breaks to workers 18 years and older, although breaks are recommended. If the employer chooses to provide a 30-minute lunch break to an employee- the break does not have to be paid, and the employee is free to leave the work-site.Breaks that are 30 minutes or less must be paid.
