Idaho Child Labor Laws are under Code sections Idaho Code §44-1301 through 44-1308. These set of laws restrict certain occupations minors may be employed in and the number of hours and days they may work. Minors of at least 14 years of age and over permitted to work in various industries, but cannot hold an agricultural job. However, restrictions on minors will vary depending on age.
Rules for Minors Under 16
Minors under 16 years of age are permitted to work in between the hours of 6 a.m. and 9 p.m., unless public schools are in session. Such minors may not work more than 9 hours a day and no more than 54 hours a week.
Rules for Minors Under 14
Minors under the age of 14 are permitted to work in between 6 a.m. and 9 p.m., but not when public schools are active. Minors in this age group age may only work 9 hours a day and no more than 54 hours in a week.
