To avoid confusion applicant must speak to employer about their normal hours, wages, time and place of payment. Employees must be aware of their notice requirements it should be kept in paper, employers could list the information on or near the employees work place as well. The employer must provide a notice within seven days regarding any changes to the following items which are listed below. Wage agreed upon can be changed at any given moment (South Carolina Stat. 41-10-30).
An employer must make employees full-aware with notice requirements at the time of hire:
- Hours they will be working.
- Wage agreed upon.
- The time and place of payment.
- Deductions that will be made from the wages, including payments to insurance programs.
The employer must keep records of employees for three years such as their names, addresses, wages paid each payday, and deductions (South Carolina Stat. 41-10-30).
It is also a requirement in South Carolina for the employer to give their employees a wage statement every pay period.
